Conditions for imposing fines for unpaid Hi-Pass fees
The fine for unpaid Hi-Pass is 10 times the original amount. Please check the conditions for charging the additional toll fee of 10 below.
There is no immediate penalty for non-payment of the Hi-Pass fee. However, if you intentionally manipulate the terminal or card, you will be immediately fined. And if you pass without permission more than 20 times a year, you will be immediately fined.
Failure to pay Hi-Pass due to terminal malfunction or insufficient balance will result in a 4th notice being sent and a fine imposed. If you have been unfairly fined, you can receive a reduction in the additional toll by visiting the business office next to the highway Hi-Pass and filling out a toll highway additional toll information confirmation form.
Fine for non-payment of Hi-Pass toll
A small number of cases of non-payment of toll fees that occurred by mistake are not subject to fines. However, if you habitually fail to pay the Hi-Pass fee and do not pay the outstanding amount, you may be subject to imprisonment for up to 3 years or a fine of up to 5 million won for the crime of illegal use of convenience facilities, and you must also pay all unpaid amounts.
When the Hi-Pass unpaid amount is high
If you are issued a pass when entering the highway and use the high-pass lane when exiting the highway, you may be charged an excessive amount of unpaid fines. Since there is only an exit record and no entry record, the price is set for the section with the highest fare.
If the amount charged is abnormally high, please contact the call center and a correction can be made by submitting your entry pass.
