BEST 4 ways to get rid of rice bugs
I actually tried to prevent rice bugs by laying elvan rock in the past, but elvan rock was not a very good choice (I tried it a few times), so I did not include it in the article.

1. Put garlic in rice.

Garlic’s unique strong scent prevents rice bugs and other bugs from living in rice. Putting garlic in rice will prevent rice bugs from accessing the rice.
However, the downside is that it tastes a bit like garlic when cooked. *For reference, if you often see bugs in your house, you can easily get rid of them by placing garlic in the area.

2. Put charcoal in rice

Rice bugs like moist places. And charcoal plays a role in absorbing moisture. Therefore, if you put charcoal in rice, the charcoal will absorb all the moisture in the rice container, naturally making it a place where rice bugs cannot survive, and preventing it at the same time.

3. Put rice in a plastic bottle

When storing rice, you can get rid of rice bugs by putting it in the kimchi refrigerator. However, if this is not possible and you cannot add garlic or charcoal, try storing rice in a plastic bottle.

If you store rice, grains, etc. in a plastic bottle, you can store the rice safely because there is no room for air to enter and no place for rice bugs to enter. *For reference, rice bugs pierce plastic bags, cotton, and paper. However, it cannot penetrate the plastic material of PET bottles.

4. Add red pepper

If you put red pepper, which contains a spicy ingredient called capsaicin, in rice, rice bugs will not be able to get inside the rice and all bugs inside the rice will run away to somewhere else. If you put red pepper in a rice jar, you can see the effects immediately within a few hours. However, the downside is that you have to change the red pepper every month. Therefore, you can put about 5 to 8 red peppers in a mesh bag, store them in the rice, take them out a month later, and repeat.
