Eligibility to apply for monthly rent refund
To apply for a monthly rent refund, you must meet all of the conditions below. (Officetels and gosiwons are excluded from monthly rent refunds.)
If both the head of the household and members of the household do not own a home
Workers whose total salary is less than 70 million won
If you have reported moving into your current residence
Houses with a house size of 85 square meters or less or a standard market price of 300 million won or less
Eligible for monthly rent refund
There are two ways to receive a monthly rent refund: tax deduction and income deduction. Tax credits lower your taxes, while deductions reduce your taxes by lowering your income. In conclusion, both methods reduce taxes, but there may be differences in the target, amount, method, etc., so you should look carefully before applying.
There are many eligibility conditions for tax credits, but one strategy is to apply for tax credits first because they can reduce taxes further, and if rejected, apply for income deductions with more relaxed conditions.
