Automobile inspection is a mandatory system to reduce environmental pollution caused by exhaust gas and traffic accidents through safety inspection. An online reservation service was introduced to reduce idling and convenience for users who wish to undergo an examination.
It is largely divided into general inspection 1 and periodic inspection 2, and the inspection target is automatically designated according to the region. Based on non-commercial general private passenger cars, inspections are performed once after 4 years after the new car is shipped, and once every two years thereafter. Commercial use is received annually two years after shipment.
If you go through a private inspection station, you can get an inspection quickly without an appointment, but it has a big drawback in terms of cost. It is cheaper and easier to book online through the TS Transportation Safety Authority inspection office.

How to book a car inspection
1. Go to the homepage of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority Cyber Inspection Center and log in with an official certificate, etc.

2. In the Vehicle Inspection Reservation menu, click Inspection Vehicle Search and Reservation.
3. Select the type of vehicle for which you want to schedule an inspection.

※ The vehicle inspection fine is 40,000 won if the inspection is possible within 30 days after the due date. In addition, from the 31st day onwards, a fine of 20,000 won is added every 3 days, and a fine of up to 600,000 won may be imposed. It may result in disadvantageous disposition, such as forfeiture.
Whether or not to receive a fee reduction
The fee reduction is only implemented at the Korea Transportation Safety Authority inspection office or business trip inspection station. After selecting a fee reduction target, enter the necessary information and click the Apply reduction or exemption button. Vehicle inspection fee reduction is limited to non-commercial vehicles, and a joint-named vehicle refers to a vehicle registered under the name of the representative owner.
